Match between Finland and Norway in the first 30 minutes looked like the first match between Sweden and Russia. And the only goal in the first half was scored almost at the same time: Swede opened the score on 20th minutes, and Finnish girls scored on 21st minutes. It is interesting that, among other things, the names of Elin Karlsson from Sweden and Inna Lempinen from Finland coincide in the number of letters.
But in the second half everything turned out differently. In the first minute Norwegian team scored by the efforts of Marthe Røren Hellum. The national team of Norway had even a good chance to take the lead, but actually, the attacks of Finnish hockey players looked much more dangerous. The score was equal and it went to the 12–meters penalty kicks, but two minutes before the end of the match, Hannah Snäll after a corner scored in the gates of the Norwegian team.
Sergey Gusev, the head coach of Norway:
– We have a very young team. In the first half it was difficult to get into the game because of the jet lag, the time difference between Oslo and Irkutsk is seven hours. Despite this, I am very pleased with the game. Girls have worked for one hundred percent. We are moving forward, and I am very excited about this trend.
Pirjo Ahonen, the head coach of Finland:
– We do not hide that our minimum objective is to win the bronze medal, but why not to attempt at the most. With whom in this case we would be more comfortable to play in the final – with Russians or Swedish? Of course, with the Russian team.
