Before the Russia – Finland match, the press centre of V World Championship was crowded: the winners of the children art contest devoted to bandy which took place in the framework of the championship were awarded.

The artworks of the young artists were also exhibited here. Quite a big hall could barely accommodate all the drawings and other artworks made of paper, ceramic, dough…

The winners and prize takers of the contest were awarded by Sergey Levchenko, the Governor of Irkutsk Oblast, Vladimir Matiyenko, head of board for preparation and conduct of V World Championship, Ilya Reznik, sport minister of Irkutsk Oblast, Magnus Sköld, vice president of Federation of International Bandy.

– To be honest, we didn’t expect that the children art contest devoted to the world championship would attract so much interest. It is wonderful, that children art schools got involved into the contest. The level of the contest participants is so high that many of the artworks truly are masterpieces, Vladimir Matiyenko noted.

There were many nominations in the contest. For example, The Youngest Participant, For the Team Work, For the Best Portrait. Besides, the championship organizing committee established a special prize which was given to Polina Bochkaryova. She made a 3D presentation of a girl with a stick, the symbol of V World Championship. One more special prize, For Devotion to Sport, was awarded to Kholmogoy High School which most actively participated in the contest. Their students sent 51 (!) drawings devoted to girls bandy.

The contest winners and prize takers got well-deserved honours. They were especially delighted with the attributes with the world championship symbols, especially the hats, scarfs, and mittens. The drawing made by Alyona Chernikh, the winner, especially impressed Magnus Sköld and now it will be taken to the office of Federation of International Bandy.

Magnus Sköld, vice president of Federation of International Bandy:

— I’ve once again got convinced that there is a wonderful sport atmosphere in Irkutsk. People in your city love bandy and have a good handle of it. It was proved by today’s exhibition where we saw wonderful artworks. It’s pleasant that children in Irkutsk not only play bandy themselves but also can show everybody the best moments of the game.
