The Russian team conducted this match persistently without a single discredit upon their victory. Irkutsk bandy players Ekaterina Gomzyakova and Marina Kukhtina representing our Record Youth Sports School club (Rus. «ДЮСШ Рекорд») in the national team got down to work from the first minutes and made the score up to 4:1 by the middle of the first half. After Gomzyakova's poker (that is, after her fourth goal in the game), all the issues were finally closed.
Post-match press conference
Pirjo Ahonen, the head coach of the Finnish team:
– Today, we performed better than on the first day, but got tired a little bit. May be that is why our team couldn’t put up good fight against the host team of the championship.
Alexander Mezhuev, the head coach of the Russian team:
– I guess, today, our girls have perfectly congratulated all our men on the Defender of the Fatherland Day. They came out to the game with passion and eagerness and deserved this victory. Unfortunately, we still have a lot of mass, a lot of unreasonable mistakes, so we have a lot to work at. It is pleasant to know, that we managed to achieve such a result under unfavourable weather conditions, on soft ice.
