Bandy fest has come to Shelekhov

It was the first of the two matches hold outside of Irkutsk in Shelekhov, a small in Russian terms town with population of about 50 thousand people. They conducted their own opening of V World Championship in Shelekhov with the participation of mister Cao Yunlong, consul general of the People’s Republic of China in Irkutsk, Sergey Levchenko, the Governor of Irkutsk Oblast, Magnus Sköld, vice president of Federation of International Bandy, and Vladimir Matiyenko, president of Bandy Federation of Irkutsk Oblast.
This event became a real festival for Shelekhov and the spectators supported both Chinese and Swedish players with enthusiasm. As they usually say in such cases, the friendship won.
Post-match press conferenceAnnika Lundberg, head coach of the Swedish team:
– We were lucky to play with two world’s strongest teams for less than 24 hours and this was a good cultivation for us. We can learn a lot from the teams of Russia and Sweden. We have two more matches to play, with the teams of Finland and Norway, and we will be truly happy if we manage to score at least one goal. We will try to rehabilitate by these games important to us because we have an experienced team. But we used to play different sport, ice hockey.
Li Bindong, head coach of the Chinese team:
– I would like to thank the Chinese team for respectable play. Such matches allow us to try something new, to experiment and at the same time allow our competitors to practice sparring with experienced players.
