The final game of the 5th world championship was held on Zenit stadium, which is located in a remote part of Irkutsk (historically it is called «second Irkutsk»), where mostly the workers of the aircraft plant and their families live. They love sport and the tier is never empty here. As a matter of course, the audience paid much attention to the game of the world championship. Moreover, this audience was quite diverse. For example, in the middle of the first half one vigorous old lady was talking to her sister by the phone and told her that she had gone walking and, all of a sudden, she had got in the «world championship», and then she asked her sister to come there as fast as she could.
Concerning the game, it was expected that the Norway national team were going to win. However, there wasn’t a lopsided score like in the previous game of the Finnish against the Chinese. Generally, representatives of the Celestial Empire were playing worthily. When they learn how to get to the opponent’s gates and how to aim with precision, the national team can provide a competition if not to the greatest teams of bandy, but certainly to the Finnish team.
It was a nice tournament for the Chinese national team: they scored and have played the whole half to a draw with the Finnish; and, of course, they gained much experience during these 4 days. Let’s hope that the girls bandy will start to develop in this country. Anyways, the head coach of the Chinese girls has promised that it will.
Post-match press conferenceLi Bindong, head coach of the Chinese national team:
- For now our team is weaker, than the opponents, but I’m sure, that in prospect the Chinese national team is capable of doing great things. Today we have missed some fair opportunities in attack. We will try to improve the team’s tactics, which includes the consultations of the most experienced coaches of Russia.
Sergei Gusev, head coach of the Norwegian national team:
- I would like to thank the Chinese team for this interesting game. I’m sure that this team has a great future. It’s really pleasant to see new countries on the world championships and more people to be interested in this sport, which is the essential part of our life. I think, the Chinese girls will improve their playing step by step, and it will be even more interesting to play with them.
