The world Cup was officially opened in Irkutsk

03/01/2020

Due to the tight schedule of matches of the world bandy championship in group B in Irkutsk and Shelekhov, the tournament organizers did not have the opportunity to gather all the participants together. Therefore, it was decided to hold a mini-opening ceremony at each of the championship stadiums. At Trud, a solemn event was held before the start of the Hungary-Switzerland match.

There were a lot of spectators in the stands of the sports facility. In the impromptu opening parade, except for the national teams of Hungary and Switzerland, children from the hockey school «Sibskana» were noted.

The ceremony was attended by acting Governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev, acting Minister of sports of the region Ilya Reznik, head of the Directorate for the preparation and holding of the world Cup Vladimir matienko, representative of the International bandy Federation Yevgeny Epifanov.

After congratulations on the start of the championship and good wishes for good luck, the teams were handed bread and salt, national anthems were played, and the referee gave the starting whistle.

The game started with the attacks of the Swiss team. But the first goal was created by the Hungarians – after drawing a corner, the Swiss goalkeeper pulled the ball out of the near corner of the goal.

As in the first match of the day, the Hungarian team scored a quick goal, and again it was written by Denis Chapay. He sent the ball into the Swiss goal after a long-range shot by the opposing goalkeeper.

Almost immediately, the Swiss team got a great chance to level the score. The team carried out a sharp attack, during which the ball even went into the goal of the Hungarian national team. But the referee's whistle has already sounded, which recorded a violation of the rules by the defenders-a penalty. Unfortunately for the Swiss, Patrick Mayer's shot was deflected by the bar.

But the Hungarian national team scored its 12-meter goal: Andre Bergen's shot was not taken.

Before the end of the match, the Hungarian team scored two more goals, which were recorded by Linus Schellin. First, he scored from close range, and then the hockey player won the race in speed from the defenders, went one - on-one, beat the goalkeeper and sent the ball into an empty net.

In the second half, the Hungarian team continued to have a noticeable advantage and confidently realized its superiority in speed. The result of the match-7: 0 in favor of the Hungarians-accurately reflected what was happening on the ice. Of these goals scored, we note the goal of Denis Chapay, who beautifully laid the ball under the far post, and a spectacular shot by Linus Schellin, who scored a hat-trick.

At the end of the match, the Swiss created a great moment to score a prestige goal. Piaget Thierry had a great shot from long range, but the ball whizzed over the crossbar.

Igor Kobzev, acting Governor of the Irkutsk region:

– We have done everything to make today a real international sports festival. We are happy to welcome the participating teams to Irkutsk, and we say to everyone: «Hello!» and may the strongest win!

Vladimir Matienko, head of the Directorate for the preparation and holding of the world Cup:

– Today is a really good day: the sun is shining, the ice is beautiful, and everyone is in a great mood. In Irkutsk, they are very fond of ball hockey, and this is evidenced by young hockey players who will grow into excellent masters. The holiday has come, long live ball hockey!

Eugene Epifanov, the representative of the International Federation of bandy:

– We remember the excellent organization of the world Cup, which was held in Irkutsk in 2014. We have no doubt that the world Cup in 2020 will be held in a tough, uncompromising struggle and at a high level. The group will be drawn only stay for an exit in elite of world hockey with the ball. I wish the teams to show a great game, and the audience to enjoy good hockey.
