Latvia beat Somalia at the world Cup in Irkutsk with a score of 11:0
The national teams of Latvia and Somalia met on March 2 in the morning match of the world bandy championship among the teams of group B at the Record stadium in Irkutsk. On the eve of both teams did not feel happy about the victories: the Balts lost in one meeting, the Africans – in two. But there was a circumstance that made them related: zeros in the "goals scored" column.
Latvian hockey players immediately rushed to the attack, but faced the defensive redoubts of their opponents, who were not going to let them pass to their goal. And already on the 6th minute, the coaching staff of the national team of Latvia had to take a time-out. This minute "pumping" had an effect. Romance Buds at 10-th minute opened the scoring and a minute later scored Viesturs Cimermanis. Here already the Balts broke through - 6:0 by the break.
With the full advantage of the Latvian team , the second half also passed . The goal was scored five more times by the Somali national team - 11:0. In addition, the Baltic hockey players did not realize two 12-meter penalty kicks.
Magnus Moore, head coach of the Somali national team:
– It was a difficult game for us , we tried to make the most of the opportunities, but it didn 't work out . I would like to note that the quality of our game is improving with each match. We will continue in the same spirit. But this is a very long and painstaking process.
– From the outside it might seem that you are extremely dissatisfied with the game of your wards.
– Perhaps, outwardly my actions look too emotional, expressive. In fact , I'm trying to add motivation to the hockey players so that they don 't give up, despite the unenviable score.
Pēteris of OSTOSOVS , coach of Latvia:
– We drew the appropriate conclusions from the defeat of the Slovak national team. However, in the first minutes of today's match, the hockey players did not cope with the tasks set for them. So we had to take a very quick time-out, and once again we explained to them what to do. And then it worked out.
Viesturs Cimermanis player of the national team of Latvia:
– I agree with the coach that in the beginning we didn't play the way we were supposed to . And the time-out turned out to be very useful. Some things worked out , some didn 't. But a positive result has been achieved. In this meeting, we tried to prepare well for a very important evening match with the Japanese national team in the tournament plan.
