In the two-volume history-from the formation of the game to the construction of the ice Palace «Baikal» in Irkutsk.

— There are three classic genres in book publishing — journalism, photo album and statistical reference. We initially set ourselves the task of making the publication at the intersection of all three genres. We have a photo album at the same time — there are about a thousand photos in the book, and we have a statistical reference book — we gave all the statistics for the national team for the first time, — says the publisher of the book «Legends of Russian hockey» Igor Verhozin.

The legendary coach Anatoly Tarasov against bandy, the world's first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin at a match, games on lakes — such details and interesting facts were collected by the authors. It all fit into forty-one chapters. A team of 50 people worked. The book contains about a thousand illustrations, many of them published for the first time.

Sources of old photographs were state archives, private collections, and Newspapers, including Finnish and Swedish ones — the frames were scanned and processed. This book was prepared for the fortieth world Cup. The tournament will be held in Irkutsk in any case, " Igor Kobzev said. The head of the region handed over a copy to all present. The publication can also be purchased by fans of bandy.

— Behind this is a year and a half of strenuous work. There is no such unique publication for any sport that we have in the Russian Federation. We are just good fellows, we are ahead of the whole planet — I will not be afraid of these words — says the head of the Directorate for the world bandy Championship Vladimir matienko.
